The Town of Greater Napanee is looking for general feedback from the community with respect to parking. The feedback received will help shape edits to Parking By-law No. 2014-0032, and may also be used to guide future approaches to parking within Greater Napanee.

Parking on public property in Greater Napanee is regulated through By-law No. 2014-0032, and includes the following rules:

  • Prohibits parking in a way that obstructs sidewalks, crosswalks, school bus loading zones, the flow of traffic, other vehicles etc.;
  • Prohibits parking for longer than 2 or 4 hours in the downtown area;
  • Prohibits parking on any public road or municipal parking lot overnight (1:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.) during the winter maintenance period (December 1 to March 31);
  • Prohibits parking too far from curbs or shoulders;
  • Establishes accessible parking space locations, and fines for parking in accessible spaces without a permit;
  • Establishes fire routes and no parking areas, where parking is prohibited;
  • Prohibits parking on boulevards, the grassy portion of the shoulder of any road and median strips;

At this time, staff are looking for feedback on the following specific areas:

  • Time-limited parking in the downtown area;
  • Parking signage in the downtown area;
  • General comments regarding the current parking by-law and its offences.
