<div class="OutlineElement Ltr SCXW199030945 BCX8">The Town of Greater Napanee has seen interest from some residents regarding the keeping of chickens inside urban areas. As an initial step, the Town is seeking resident input to determine levels of interest on this subject. Your feedback will help shape the recommendations that staff bring forward to Council. </div><div class="OutlineElement Ltr SCXW199030945 BCX8"> </div><div class="OutlineElement Ltr SCXW199030945 BCX8">Current Rules </div><div class="OutlineElement Ltr SCXW199030945 BCX8">Currently, keeping of chickens is regulated along with the keeping of other livestock animals through the Town&rsquo;s Zoning By-law. Chickens are only permitted to be kept on properties that are zoned as Prime Agriculture (PA) or Rural (RU). Chickens are not permitted in any residential or commercial zoned property. </div><div class="OutlineElement Ltr SCXW199030945 BCX8"> Potential Rules </div><div class="OutlineElement Ltr SCXW199030945 BCX8">Some other municipalities in Ontario have adopted backyard chicken by-laws to allow for the keeping of hens in urban areas. These by-laws are subject to regulations which protect the welfare of the animals as well as reduce potential nuisance impacts on neighbors. Typically they prohibit keeping roosters, selling of eggs, and slaughter of chickens on the property, as well as setting rules for the minimum size of chicken coops and minimum setbacks from property lines. </div><div class="OutlineElement Ltr SCXW199030945 BCX8"> </div>Share your thoughts on the allowance of urban area chickens by completing our survey. Waste Diversion in Greater Napanee

What&#39;s the Problem? The current configuration of the Centre St. Boat Launch does not provide a reasonable service level for members of the Greater Napanee community. The municipal parking lot/launch area is in dire need of capital investment and is limiting the Town&rsquo;s ability to move forward with promoting our prestige waterfront area. From limited access to waterfront, to unorganized municipal parking, current conditions of the Centre St. Boat Launch do not meet the needs of residents nor enable tourism initiatives in general. Our Goal: To create an inclusive, sustainable, and shared public space:<ul><li>Inclusive: considers those with accessibility needs;</li><li>Sustainable: considers future growth of the Town; maintenance and enforcement efforts are realistic and accounted for;</li><li>Shared: considers public and private interests. Maximizes space and traffic flow for boaters, recreational water users and restaurant patrons. Centre St. Boat Launch Community Consultation

<div class="OutlineElement Ltr SCXW41982543 BCX8">Town Council has directed staff to implement a by-law to regulate short-term accommodations within Greater Napanee. Similar by-laws are already in place or are being considered by many other municipalities in the region. Short-Term Accommodations By-law Community Consultation 

The Town of Greater Napanee is developing its first Recreation Master Plan specific to parks, trails, recreation facilities, and services, and more! What is a Recreation Master Plan? A Recreation Master Plan brings together community vision, best practices and practical solutions to create a road map for investment going forward &ndash; investment in people and volunteer support, buildings, and services. When complete, the Plan will sit alongside the Town&rsquo;s forthcoming Strategic Plan, providing detailed recommendations to sustain and enhance recreation services.How is the Recreation Master Plan created? Developing a long-term plan for recreation, parks and culture requires an understanding of community needs both now and over the next 10 years. Most importantly, this plan will be framed by direct engagement with the public, the volunteers that support services, members of Council, Town staff and others.What is the planned outcome of the Recreation Master Plan?
